Initially the Subsidiary Bistra Poiana Marului having the head office in Caransebes belonged to the Subsidiary Sebes. The main working objective was the Hydropower Development Bistra which represents a complex development project of several hydrographic basins which cover a total surface of 686 km2. This meant the performance of 3 HPP of a high power and 3 HPP of low power.
The most important works already completed or underway by the subsidiary Bistra were the dam Poiana Marului (H=125.5m), the HPP Turnu Ruieni, the headrace, the pressure node and tailrace Turnu Ruieni, the storage lake Zervesti, all of them within HPP Ruieni, then HPP Riul Alb including the dam Poiana Rusca, the pressure node, the headrace, the tailrace Riul Alb, HPP Riul Alb, etc.
Within the Hydropower Development Bistra the subsidiary also performed a number of civil and industrial constructions like the IE Caransebes, the control block and connection station Ruieni, blocks of flats for the HPP Ruieni personnel in Caransebes and for the HPP Riul Alb or Marga.
Other works were the methane gas pipeline Resita – Anina and after 1990 the EFF-EFF Complex Lugoj including a production hall, a block of flats with 2 levels, garages, recreation areas, the customs – house Turnu Arad, GOPA Arad, GOPA Timisoara, the Culture house Caransebes, water supply of several villages, industrial production halls Tenneco Caransebes and Mondial Lugoj, decanters Resita financed by PHARE, water supply Sudrigiu, Rieni, Teleschi Semenic.
